  • December had hardly arrived when Leics/Northants members gathered for the first of their Christmas festivities. Charged with a task akin to herding cats, Kathie Lynch tried to organise a more streamlined exchange of Christmas cards, which everyone agreed was a good idea – and then reverted to the usual scurrying around and calling out names method. Don’t worry, Kathie, there’s always next year.

We had a brilliant and challenging session by Cathy Johnson, who managed to find some Christmas songs other than Wizard and Slade to work to. Having earned our mince pie and mulled wine, we took a break to exchange Christmas cards and generally catch up with all that had happened since we last met.

But Cathy hadn’t finished yet – it was now her turn to be challenged – by judging the best fancy dress.

This has become a major feature of our Christmas party, and nowadays the costumes are a bit more than a length of tinsel round the neck and a sprig of holly in the hair. Plenty of that though adding to the general festive spirit.

This year the theme was pantomime characters.

Well done everyone who made such an effort with their costumes, but there can only be one winner and after much deliberation, Cathy Johnson announced the winner as ………….

Kathie Lynch as Red Riding Hood.

Merry Christmas to all our Keep Fit friends and hope you have a happy 2019.
