  • This year Manchester & District KFA are celebrating their 60th Anniversary. On the 4th March we held our A.G.M at the Longfield Suite in Prestwich, Manchester. This was a new venue for us so the committee were naturally very apprehensive. WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY! Over 200 people attended and we were delighted that our National Chair, Lynne Dowdican and past Chair, Grace Beckett were amongst these.
Rallies were taken by Lin Mills, Kath Leacy, Kathryn Bentley and Sandra McPeake and teachers submitted 9 class demonstrations plus the Manchester item produced by Alma Cooper and our 2 Festival items produced by Anne Wardle.
Judy Stephenson gave a brief talk on the Manchester KFA history and everyone received a piece of celebratory cake.
We had a nostalgia stall where there were many giggles and oohs and aahs at all the old photos of yesteryear, recalling old friendships and marvelling at new ones forged.
To top it all the raffle was magnificent and raised an unprecedented amount and we need not have worried about our new venue because the staff were amazing and the atmosphere was electric.
Everyone agreed it was a highly successful day, bring on next year!!
