Eastern Counties members performed in two items at the National Festival – ‘Move to The Rhythm – The Spirit of Dance’ at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in June.
This year our producers were Melanie Weyman and Maureen Squirrell.
Melanie’s item was a Laban movement item ‘Freedom’ to uplift our spirits and bring unity to all, from the lows of frustration to the dizzy heights of enlightenment.
Maureen’s team was made up mainly of class members who performed ‘Energy Buzz’ using ropes and hoops – skipping and swirling to the music Wonderland
Margaret Reeve from Maureen’s team said –
Having attended every rehearsal, my outfit purchased and very excited to be a team member to represent Eastern Counties in the item called Energy Buzz produced by Maureen Squirrell.
Unfortunately during the final dress rehearsal I had an accident which prevented me from performing in the KFA National Festival 2018 at the wonderful Symphony Hall Birmingham.
So it was a very emotional experience to be a spectator from a wheelchair, watching my team perform a wonderful item and not able to be on the stage with them. A great performance and was very proud of both EC teams.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show, thanks to all the producers and the shows production team for giving access to me at short notice so I could watch all the performances – and I was able to be part of the team photograph in my outfit.
Thanks for a wonderful afternoon.
Margaret Reeve
