  • This year our National charity is the Alzheimer’s Society and we in the East Midlands are well on the way towards raising over £2,000 for this worthwhile cause. Every member has been involved with fundraising activities being part of every event.

Across the region we have held Quizzes, Coffee mornings, Clothes sales and supported our events with Raffles, Tombola and Cake Stalls. Individual classes and class members have raised money by holding bring and buy sales and book exchanges.

For many years, it has been the practice with KFA classes in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire for members to give a donation to the KFA nominated charity instead of exchanging Christmas Cards.
Some of the events raising money towards this fantastic total have been:
Leics/Northants raised £300 from the sale of Quiz Sheets. The winner of the £20 prize will be announced at their AGM/Spring Rally in April.
Kathie Lynch had a Christmas Open house with mulled wine and mince pies. There was the option of coffee for the drivers who felt the mulled wine might affect their driving (or walking for that matter!) With a seasonal raffle, and lots of chatter, the day raised over £300.
Pat Heed organised a Second Chance clothes sale which also raised over £300.

With both areas of the region still having one more event planned to increase funds, the Spring Rally in Leics/Northants and a fashion show and sale in Derbys/Lincs/Notts, we expect our final total to be well over £2,000.00

    Well done everyone.
