WIRRAL KFA 40TH AGM CELEBRATIONS
A celebration of 40 years of Keep Fit, Fun & Friendship was held on Saturday 10th November 2018 at St Michael’s Church Hall, Pensby, Wirral.
We were so pleased to see Founder Members, Past & present Members & Teachers along with Regional Guests, all coming together to help the celebrations go with a bang! Wonderful to see faces from the past arriving to hugs & kisses & always with the same “Can’t believe it’s been 40 years!”
A wonderful rally taken by Judy Stephenson of Manchester KFA started the day in style followed by our AGM meeting during which a Honorary Life Membership was presented to Geraldine Wright, who has been a Wirral KFA Committee Member for 36 years. She has held offices of Chairman, News Letter Editor, Regional Representative & KFA Teacher as well as taking part in the Albert Hall Teams, Regional Teams and producing and taking part in the Wirral Teams over the years.
We also presented a cheque to the Wirral Fund for Children with Special Needs for £2500 which had been raised over the previous twelve months. This fantastic sum was raised from holding social events such as a Burns Night Celebration, a Summer Garden Party, a Quiz Night with Hot Pot Supper, Class Coffee Mornings & Raffles. The Wirral Members always choose a different local charity each year for our fundraising, usually because a Wirral Member or family member has received or is currently receiving help & assistance from such a charity. Items of equipment for Children with Special Needs are often 2-3 times the cost & the families need help & assistance.
Over the past 40 years of Wirral KFA, we have raised and donated a massive £63,320 to local charities – quite an achievement that we are very proud of.
Barbara Worrall, the North West KFA President and Margaret Davies, Wirral KFA President then cut our special Anniversary Cake and we all retired for a catered lunch with Bucks Fizz.
The afternoon resumed with demonstrations from Class Teams, Guest Items, Chair Aerobics and a “40’s” Themed item from the 2018 Wirral Team produced by Ann Waldron.
Lin Mills from Manchester KFA took us all through our paces in her usual style and panache for our finale rally – the perfect end to a perfect day in all ways.
